The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in response to a plea filed by Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) president and Baramulla Member of Parliament (MP), Engineer Rashid, seeking bail.
In a statement, AIP’s chief spokesperson, Inam Un Nabi, confirmed that the Delhi High Court had directed the NIA to respond to the plea. Rashid’s application requests the High Court to instruct the trial court judge to expedite a decision on his pending regular bail application. Alternatively, Rashid has asked the High Court to directly adjudicate the matter and make a ruling on his bail.
Nabi noted that the next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 30, adding that the plea is part of Rashid’s ongoing legal battle to secure his release from extended detention.
