DEOs convene all-party meetings to discuss implementation of MCC

District Election Officers (DEOs) of Anantnag and Bandipora districts convened meetings with representatives of political parties to discuss the implementation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Anantnag DEO SF Hamid during the meeting emphasised the importance of adhering to the MCC, aimed to ensure free and fair elections. He outlined the responsibilities of political parties and their candidates in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

The discussion also covered logistical arrangements, voter education, and measures to enhance transparency and prevent electoral malpractice.

Political party representatives expressed their concerns and suggestions, which were acknowledged and discussed in detail. The DEO assured the attendees that their feedback would be taken into consideration to facilitate a transparent and effective electoral environment.

Bandipora DEO Manzoor Ahmad Qadri held a meeting which focused on ensuring a free, fair and transparent electoral process.

During the meeting, the DEO discussed several key issues, including strict adherence to the MCC. Emphasising the importance of a peaceful electoral environment, the DEO sought the cooperation of all political parties to ensure that the elections are conducted smoothly and without any disruptions.

The participants were provided a detailed briefing on the measures being implemented to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

The DEO said all arrangements have been put in place to ensure free and fair elections and added that different committees have been constituted to check the implementation of MCC.

The participants were briefed about the MCC, expenditure monitoring, putting up of flags, banners, the size of banners, the time of their installation and removal besides detailed deliberations were held regarding various applications including cVIGIL, Suvidha, NCORE and other ICT applications of Election Commission of India.

SSP Lakshay Sharma urged participants to encourage the use of ethical campaigning practices and to refrain from engaging in any activities that could incite violence or violate the model code of conduct.

The DEO also addressed concerns raised by the political party representatives and assured them that their suggestions would be taken into consideration.
