Jammu, April 2

As the country is under 21-day lockdown, Ramnavmi celebrations in J&K were lackluster without ‘kanjak pujan’ and ‘sankh visarjan’.

On the directions of the administration and appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people preferred to stay home on Ramnavmi as well and prayed for the well being of the country from home.

“Our religious belief is supreme for us, but not at the cost of others’ lives. We have to understand the sensitivity of the situation so we preferred to stay home and didn’t call girls for kanjak poojan,” said Priya Mahajan of Janipur.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) had also arranged a vehicle to collect ‘sankh/khetri’ from different localities of the city, but many residents complained that the vehicle did not reach their localities.

Meanwhile, the temples remained closed on Ramnavmi as well.
