Devyani Rana appointed BJP’s youth wing J&K vice president
Devyani Rana, the daughter of prominent Jammu leader and BJP MLA Late Devender Singh Rana, was on Monday appointed as the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), J&K.
She is also expected to contest the by-election from the Nagrota seat, which her father had won with a record margin in the Assembly polls earlier this year before he passed away on October 31.
According to an order issued by the saffron party, Devyani was nominated for the position of BJYM vice president following consultations between Arun Prabhat, president of BJYM J&K, Sat Sharma, BJP J&K president, and Ashok Koul, general secretary (organisation) of BJP.
Devender Singh Rana, the brother of Union Minister Jitendra Singh, had secured the highest margin of 30,000 votes in the Assembly elections from Nagrota. The seat became vacant after his passing, and BJP has shown interest in fielding no other candidate but Devyani from the constituency, given the Rana family’s stronghold. The by-poll is expected to be held alongside the Delhi elections.
Devyani has already begun touring the Nagrota constituency, interacting with locals, although there has been no official confirmation of her candidacy. Devyani currently serves as the CEO of the media house owned by her father.
