Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range DIG (Police) Shiv Kumar Sharma held a security review meeting at Billawar in Kathua district.

Kathua SSP Shobit Saxena, SP Operations Aumer Iqbal, DSP Operations Sukhvir Singh and officials from other sister agencies were present.

The DIG underscored the importance of the robust security plan and proactive measures to counter threats from Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and Anti-National Elements (ANEs).

He directed the officials to spread awareness drive for the public and urged them to report any suspicious or terrorist activity in nearest police post or police station immediately and assured them to provide proper co-operation from the police. All efforts would be made to destroy the support system of terrorist in Malhar, Machedi and Badnota, the DIG said.

All officials were directed to strengthen all the check-points especially during night hours. DIG imparted necessary instructions for installation of CCTV cameras with proper record keeping and monitoring the activities of miscreants. The officials were also advised to cover all the bridges including Ujh, Varun Devta and Ludhar bridge and all the vulnerable points with CCTV Cameras.

DIG also instructed the officials to direct their subordinate units to make a strong security grid to prevent any potential threat. He also stressed for maintaining proper co-ordination with all security agencies and established routine nakas with them to effectively tackle challenges at the grassroots level for better results.
