Directorate pitches in, starts home classes for students

As the schools in the Union Terriotory of Jammu and Kashmir are closed amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, has started home classes to compensate for the loss of regular classwork.

The initiative is an attempt to connect the learner with the instructor.
In order to disseminate the e-content to every student, all heads of schools in the Jammu division have been told to create WhatsApp and Telegram groups of students and parents wherever possible in order to provide recorded lessons to them as per the academic calendar.
Director, School Education, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta said: “We will provide recorded lectures on topics covering at least the first few chapters of all subjects of all classes till the regular classwork resumes. The recorded lectures will be transmitted through the possible electronic mediums, including our official website, WhatsApp and Telegram groups and on Facebook.”
She said as the schools were closed, it was the need of the hour to help the schoolchildren in their studies. “It is heartening to note that many individuals and agencies, including our Jammu Kashmir Knowledge Network, are providing a platform for accessing e-content for the benefit of students,” she said.
Through a notification, the Directorate of School Education has requested the teaching staff to pitch in by sending recorded lectures and e-content.
“During the current period of crisis where the whole nation is struggling to overcome the COVID-19 menace, I request you all to convey consent by filling required details on the Google forms and contribute by sending us recorded lectures, powerpoint presentations, notes and any other kind of e-content which would compensate for the loss occurred due to the lockdown,” the department said.
It has said while selecting the content, kindly focus on the academic calendar and the prescribed curriculum.
