DM cancels passes issued by Tehsildars

Rajouri, April 15

Rajouri District Magistrate (DM) Mohammed Nazir Sheikh on Tuesday cancelled two passes issued by Tehsildar, Kotranka, and Naib Tehsildar, Budhal, respectively, for violation of the orders of the DM.

The passes were reportedly issued to two ‘blue-eyed persons’ to travel from Kotranka to Jammu and from Budhal to Srinagar during the lockdown.

The DM has also directed Additional DM, Kotranka sub-district, to inquire into the matter and submit a report so that disciplinary action could be taken against both the officials.

The passes were found in possession of Amir Sofi, a resident of Budhal, and Abdul Aziz, a resident of Kotranka, during frisking by the police.

“The passes, issued by the Naib Tehsildar (Budhal) and Tehsildar (Kotranka) are hereby cancelled ab-initio and passes issued (if any) by ADMs, SDMs, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars in respect of movement of person (s) and private vehicles, are deemed to have been cancelled with immediate effect,” the District Magistrate’s order read.

Meanwhile, the district administration is in process to send back 14 persons from Udhampur district who got stuck at Budhal town.

These persons had come to Budhal before lockdown for a marriage.

After extension of the lockdown till May 3, they approached local social activists.

“Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, and Mohd Nazir Sheikh, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, were contacted. Both the officers agreed to make necessary arrangements,” said Waqar Lone, social activist.

“The process to provide necessary permission to the stranded families is in progress and we hope by tomorrow they will be sent back,” said Sher Singh, Additional District Magistrate (ADM).
