Drug peddler’s property worth Rs 86 lakh attached in Kathua
Arrested under three separate FIRs against him in Samba district
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday attached a house and two vehicles of a drug smuggler in Kathua district. The action was taken against Mohammad Aslam, a resident of Marheen Rajbagh and one of his close relatives.
As per the official statement, the police attached a double storey residential house, a tractor and a pickup truck. The total valuation of the property came to Rs 86 lakh.
“Following a thorough financial investigation, the attached properties were submitted to SAFEMA for confirmation under the NDPS Act, which has now been duly confirmed,” the police said.
The drug peddler was arrested under three separate FIRs against him in Samba district. The FIRs were registered under Section 8, 21, 22, 27(A) of the NDPS.
“The said drug peddler is engaged in inter-state narcotics nexus and is presently in judicial custody. This attachment serves as a welcome deterrent to criminals. It has been proven that the drug peddler had amassed huge property disproportionate to his known sources of income,” the statement read.
A police team from Rajbagh led by SHO Inspector Ajay Singh Chib under supervision of SP Operations, Kathua, Mukund Tibrewal was present at the time of attachment of property.
“This decisive action sends a strong message to drug peddlers that the law will not tolerate their nefarious activities,” the police said.
