Jammu and Kashmir’s Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, delivered a powerful message on Martyrs’ Day at the Ram Leela Ground in Jammu, urging the younger generation to resist the growing menace of drug abuse.
Drawing attention to the devastating effects of drugs in the neighbouring state, he stressed the importance of collective action in curbing social evils and creating a healthier, drug-free community.
Choudhary appealed to the public to reflect on the direction in which society is heading and work together for positive change. He encouraged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to find inspiration in the courage and sacrifices of young martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who had fought for the nation’s freedom. He highlighted the need for youth to emulate the patriotism and dedication of these heroes in their battle against substance abuse.
“We must honour our heroes by playing a constructive role in nation-building, raising our voices against all challenges, and striving to take our country to new heights,” Choudhary stated. He emphasised the significance of choosing a constructive lifestyle and avoiding substance abuse for the betterment of society.
The Deputy CM also brought attention to the escalating issue of drug trafficking, particularly in the border district of Kathua.
“The threat of drug abuse from the neighbouring state is looming large over Kathua. We must take a united stand and uproot this menace from our society,” he asserted, calling for a unified effort.
