The Election Commission of India (ECI) has notified Special Summary Revision for Nagrota and Budgam Assembly constituencies where bypolls are pending.
The ECI notified Special Summary Revision with reference to April 1 as the qualifying date in Nagrota and Budgam Assembly Constituencies.
As per the schedule issued by the ECI, the rationalisation of polling stations will be held on April 4, publication of integrated draft electoral roll on April 8, filing of claims and objections would be done from April 8 to April 24, disposal of claims and objections by May 2 while the final publication of electoral roll would be done on May 5.
“The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Assembly constituency concerned shall be responsible for ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out and no ineligible person gets included in the electoral roll,” an official spokesperson said.
During the Special Summary Revision, the CEO/DEO/ERO will ensure that every eligible person, as per Article 326 of the Constitution of India and Section 16 and 19 of the Representative of Peoples Act, 1950, is enrolled as elector, the official informed.
The Budgam seat fell vacant after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chose to retain Ganderbal as he had won both the seats in the poll held last year. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and MLA from Nagrota seat – Devender Singh Rana – passed away in October last year after which the seat fell vacant.
