Jammu, March 30
After The Tribune highlighted the plight of parents who have been asked by private schools in the Jammu Province to submit annual/school fee in the time of crisis, the School Education Department has finally come to their rescue by issuing an order, in which it has extended the last date for the submission of school fees without any late fee up to April 30.
A report was carried in these columns on March 28, which mentioned that in the ongoing countrywide lockdown amid Covid pandemic, the management of private schools in the Jammu division were more concerned about collecting annual fee from the helpless parents, asking them to desposit the school/annual fee as per the dates fixed by them.
The management bodies of all private schools affiliated with the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE)/ CBSE / ICSE of the UT have been directed to issue appropriate directions in this regard. It was also ordered that no school will charge any fee for the online lectures/ assignments or shall link the result of the child on the basis of home assignment. The order was issuued by Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, J&K.
“It has come to notice of the government that some private schools in J&K UT have fixed March 30 as the last date for depositing school fees and are sending various messages to students and their parents to deposit such fees immediately”, the order said.
