Eight booked for swindling Jammu residents of over Rs 3 crore

The Crime Branch has booked directors of a private company, proprietor of another company, notorious scammers and a government employee among eight for frauds involving Rs 3.11 crore and securing job on fake qualification certificate.

An FIR was registered on the complaint of Guninder Jeet Singh Wazir of Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, against promotor directors of Shreekatyani Metal Pvt. Ltd., namely Nitin Gupta and Nidhi Gupta of Yojna Vihar Delhi and Nitin Maheshwari of Suryanagar Gaziabad (UP) for fraudulently causing wrongful loss of Rs 2.64 crore to the complainant and wrongful gain to themselves.

Another FIR has been registered on the complaint of Sanjeev Mahajan of Jammu against proprietor of M/S Sanbun Investments, Nishaan Singh, a resident of Delhi, for criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of Rs 35 lakh.

An FIR has been registered against notorious scammers Saroop Lal, a resident of Bari Brahmana, Jammu, and Ashish Bhandari, a resident of Subhash Nagar, Jammu, for duping Jawahar Lal and Bibi Ram, both residents of Akhnoor, for duping them of Rs 12.30 lakh on the pretext of providing government jobs as forest guards to their relatives. Accused also provided fake appointment orders. Several FIRs stand already registered against Saroop Lal and Ashish Bhandari for frauds.

Moreover, an FIR has been registered on communication from CID headquarters, J&K, against Sohan Lal, a resident of Arnia, Jammu, for securing job in the Health Department as dental technician on fake matriculation certificate, which was allegedly arranged for him by Swarn Singh of Treva, who too has been named as accused in the FIR.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh confirmed that four cases have been registered at Crime Branch Police Station, Jammu, after conducting preliminary enquiries and in-depth investigations are underway.
