In a bid to further enhance implementation of employment generation programmes in Jammu division, J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) chairperson Hina Shafi Bhat convened a review meeting with district officials.
J&K KVIB secretary Jagdish Chander, senior officials from the Board and district officers from Jammu division were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, it was informed that a total of 2,027 cases involving a margin money of Rs 42.83 crore have been sanctioned by the banks during the current financial year.
Bhat reaffirmed commitment towards fostering employment opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs and unemployed youth in J&K. She highlighted that programmes such as PMEGP and JKREGP have been specifically designed to promote entrepreneurship enabling individuals to establish their businesses and contribute to region’s economic development.
She asked the district officers to sponsor cases under new and innovative activities which will play a pivotal role in diversification of industrial sector in J&K.
Bhat urged the officials to prioritise applications of women and marginalised sections of the society, ensuring that these groups are given preferential treatment they deserve.
Lastly, she reiterated the importance of working together to ensure that the benefits of PMEGP and JKREGP reach the intended beneficiaries, ultimately empowering communities and strengthening the regional economy.
