Evading arrest for years, police arrest 4 absconders

A drive against underground criminals and absconders has been initiated by Reasi police in which three such criminals evading arrests since years were traced and arrested by teams of district police.
Jamat Ali, a resident of Maralian in Jammu, was absconding in a case under Sections 307, 353, 34 of IPC. He was arrested after two years of commission of crime in a case proven against him during the investigation. A general warrant of arrest was issued against him by Court of CJM Reasi under Section 299 Cr.PC.
Absconder Mohd Mukeem, a resident of Khawas Keri in Rajouri, evaded trial proceedings in four cases, under Sections 457, 380 Ranbir Penal Code (now IPC) and 379 IPC, was arrested after five years of commission of crime. A general warrant of arrest was issued against him by Court of CJM Reasi under Section 299 Cr.PC in two cases.
Absconder Pawan Kumar, a resident of Purana Daroor, Banganga, in Reasi was arrested in a case under Sections 376, 506 IPC, 3/4 Posco Act at Katra police station.
An official informed that under this drive, Reasi police was successful in nabbing hardcore, notorious and habitual criminals who were evading the due process of law for years and against whom general warrants of arrest issued by courts were pending execution.
Meanwhile, Kishtwar police also apprehended an absconder, who had been on the run for the past nine years.
Divulging the details, Kishtwar SSP Abdul Qayoom said police received information about the absconder, after which arrest was made by Inspector Dilraj Singh, SHO at Kishtwar.
“After relentless efforts, the absconder, identified as Mubarak Bakatir, resident of Nehru Park, Srinagar, was successfully apprehended. The absconder was wanted in a case under Sections 419, 420 of the IPC at Kishtwar,” said the SSP. The SSP reiterated the warning to all absconders urging them to surrender at the nearest police station. “Otherwise, stern action under Section 81/82 Cr. PC shall be taken against them” the SSP said.
