The evaluation of Class X and Class XII answer scripts is going on at a rapid pace to ensure timely declaration of results by the J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
In order to avoid further delay and disturbance in the academic calendar, the J&K School Education Board has decided to get the remaining unevaluated answer scripts evaluated by eligible sub-examiners/evaluators from their homes instead of the routine round-table evaluation as one time exception.
“Yes, the evaluation of answer scripts is going on war footing despite the fact that a lesser staff is available to us,” Prof Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary (Secretary), JKBOSE, told The Tribune.
“The evaluation of answer sheets began on April 20, wherein the packets carrying answer scripts were disbursed among the evaluators at their respective homes. Some of the staff is also evaluating the answer scripts at the BOSE office too,” informed Prof Singh.
“However, the staff strength is very limited. Some of the staff members have to come from red zone areas where they are not being allowed by the authorities to move out which is acceptable in such crisis. Despite all this I am hopeful that the result would be declared as early as possible,” he added.
Prof Singh further said, “The evaluation of answer scripts started on April 20 and by April 25 we had received the maximum of evaluated answer scripts.” “The evaluation is being done in a phased manner to ensure that there is no mistake,” pointed the Joint Secretary.
When asked about the criteria of giving marks for those subjects whose exam was not conducted due to lockdown, Prof Singh said, “Our primary aim is evaluate the unevaluated answer scripts of those subjects for which the exam has been conducted. The decision on conducting examination for the remaining subjects for Class XII students will be taken by the higher authorities.”
