The conference held a meeting of its executive members under the chairmanship of its president Ravinder Raina.

The members welcomed the recommendations of the Law Commission for a blanket ban on alienation of property of internally displaced persons.

“For the last three decades, the ASKPC has been demanding safeguards for immovable properties, including temples, and better implementation of the J&K Migrant Immovable Property (Preservation, Protection and Restrain on Distress Sale) Act 1997,” said Raina.

He said the recommendation of the Law Commission was an eye opener for the administration and needed immediate attention of the Revenue Department and the district administration.

TK Bhat, general secretary, ASKPC, said, “We have not left our homes and hearths by choice. Rather, the community has been hounded out from the homeland by fundamentalist elements”.
