Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader and J-K election in-charge Ram Madhav on Wednesday alleged that former militants were campaigning for National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

“I have information that ex-militants are openly campaigning for NC and PDP candidates,” he told reporters in Srinagar. He was accompanying Engineer Aijaz, party candidate for the Lalchowk constituency, during filing of nomination papers. Madhav said people had to defeat the parties who wanted to take J-K back to its bad days. He was sure that people would come forward to support new leadership, which wants peace and progress.

Noting that a new government, led by the BJP, would be formed in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhav said this election would prove out to be historic.

“People in the Valley and Jammu have suffered for 30-40 years because of two families. These families will be ousted,” he said.
