In the prevailing atmosphere of fear and uncertainty caused by Covid-19, we need each other, more than ever.

This has been proven by two women of Rajouri district, who have come forward to help people and officials in their fight against the deadly virus.

Sharda Rani (80) of Nowshera town has started making masks to be distributed for free among people.

“During my visit to a market recently, I found people talking about the unavailability of masks. I decided to make them with the help of my family so that people don’t suffer” said Sharda Rani.

Another woman, Naseema Bano, resident of the remote Kewal village in Kotranka sub district, has been providing free diesel/ petrol to ambulances and police vehicles operating in Budhal area.

Naseema Begam had recently established a petrol pump at Kewal village on Rajouri-Budhal Reasi in Reasi district.

“Employees of the health and police departments are working day and night by putting their lives at risk at this crucial juncture to fight against coronavirus,” said Naseema.

Farooq Inqalabi, a renowned political/ social activist of the area and husband of Naseema Begam, said in a goodwill gesture and to strengthen the fight against coronavirus, they will provide fuel to police vehicle and ambulances for free.

The couple has appealed to the people to come forward and save the motherland from the disease.

A team of social activists of the area, headed by Nadeem Ahmed Mir, has also extended voluntary services to needy people. The services include delivery of prescribed medicines at the doorsteps, private vehicles to shift patients etc.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Nazir Sheikh, District Magistrate; Chandan Kohli, SSP, along with a team of senior officers, visited Rajouri town today and took stock of essential commodities and implementation of the restrictions.
