Principal Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD), Rohit Kansal reviewed the functioning of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) at a meeting held here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Secretary, who also hold the charge of Managing Director, JK Power Development Corporation Limited, directed the authorities concerned to synergise efforts with primary focus to finish the work on projects which were nearing completion so that more power was generated and uninterrupted power was supplied to consumers and to create revenue for infrastructural development of the corporation.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the present status of various ongoing projects in Jammu and Kashmir, underconstruction and upcoming projects, projects under the PMDP, projects under appraisal at the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and projects transferred to the JKSPDC by the JAKEDA. The officers concerned gave detailed presentation reports and status of development of projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Principal Secretary was informed that out of the identified potential, only 3608.46 MW (22% of identified potential) has been exploited until now, which comprises 1211.96 MW in the state sector, 2339 MW in the Central sector and 57.5 MW in the IPP mode (Independent Power Producers).
He was informed that with the installed capacity of 9 MW, the Hanu (Indus) project is being executed through P&R Engineering on the EPC mode and the work would be completed by July 2020.
The Principal Secretary was informed about the operational projects of the JKPDC, NHPC, IPP and projects under construction of the JKPDC, IPP and CVPPL. He was also briefed about major upcoming projects cleared by the Central Electricity Authority/CWC for the JKPDC about Sawalkote, Ujh and Ratle (Indus).
