First Lady Smita Murmu visited the Nari Niketan and Bal Ashram at RS Pura on Saturday to take stock of the functioning and facilities being provided to the inmates of the said institutions.
Director General, Social Welfare, Jammu, Rehana Batul and other senior officials of the Social Welfare Department and the District Administration accompanied the First Lady.
Interacting with the inmates, Smita enquired about the basic amenities besides boarding, lodging, health and medicare facilities being made available to them. She took a round of the premises and suggested some improvements. Overall, she expressed her satisfaction over the functioning of the Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan. Later, the inmates presented a mesmerising cultural programme.
Meanwhile, Batul briefed the First Lady of the working of the institutions and the requirements needed for the smooth functioning. Smita also presented sanitation kits to the inmates and advised them to adopt healthy habits by practicing personal hygiene and cleanliness.
A team of doctors educated the children and women about the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle.
