Srinagar, February 12
The J&K Police busted a militant module in central Kashmir’s Budgam district by arresting five over-ground workers (OGWs).
The police said the militant associates were affiliated with the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir and were providing shelter and logistic support to militants.
“Acting on a tip-off, the Budgam police arrested five terror associates and seized arms and ammunition and other incriminating material from their possession,” a police spokesman said.
They have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Wani, Nasir Ahmad Wani, Bilal Ahmad Khan, Irfan Ahmad Pathan, residents of Gundipora, Beerwah, and Ali Mohammad Bhat, resident of Warihama, Beerwah.
“In a preliminary inquiry it was found that these terror associates are affiliated with terrorist outfit ISJK and are involved in providing shelter and logistic support to terrorists,” he said.
A case has been registered at the Beerwah police station and investigation has been taken up.
