Jammu, June 19
Suspended for the past 10 days, the fixed-line internet services were finally restored in Bhaderwah of Doda district on Sunday. Mobile Internet is still suspended.
The 12-hour relaxation in curfew from 7 am was granted to the town for the second consecutive day as the situation remained peaceful.
Meanwhile, Additional District Magistrate (Bhaderwah) Dil Mir issued an advisory, warning internet users of stringent action if they shared “objectionable material” on social media. The people have been advised to inform the administration in case they come across provocative content.
Curfew was imposed in Bhaderwah town on June 9 following communal tension in the wake of protests over recent remarks of now-removed BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad and some social posts by local right wing activists in her support.
On June 15, the curbs were relaxed for two hours. It was relaxed in two phases for five hours on June 16 and then four hours on June 17.
Policemen, along with security forces, have been deployed in strength in the town. (With PTI inputs)
