Former Rajouri MLA rejoins PDP
Srinagar, August 21
A day after the PDP lost its two leaders, who quit the party miffed by denial of mandate for the upcoming Assembly poll, former legislator from Rajouri Choudhary Qamar Hussain, rejoined the party in Srinagar on Wednesday.
PDP president and former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the prominent leader to the party in Srinagar.
During his joining, Mufti said the entire J&K had been passing through a difficult phase and that the new joining would make people’s voice in the Union Territory stronger. “I welcome him to the party. There is fear everywhere. There are difficulties. In such a situation, when people join us, it makes our party strong and ultimately makes the voices of people of J&K strong,” she said.
She said the people needed peace in J&K. She said it should not be the silence of graveyard but peace with “dignity”. “I am hopeful that he will help the PDP’s agenda to take the people of J&K out of quagmire,” said Mehbooba. In 2020, Hussain and other PDP leaders were expelled for meeting the foreign envoys in Srinagar.
The PDP said it welcomed Zaffar Ahmad Mir from Lasjan, Srinagar, and Javid Iqbal Ganie from Palhalan Pattan to the party in Srinagar.
