Srinagar lacks friendly spaces for kids

Srinagar lacks recreational facilities for children, who remained confined to their homes for the past seven months. While the school have reopened, children continue to face mental stress due to the uncertain situation in the Valley. The government must create friendly spaces for children and make available recreational facilities for them. This would help in their overall personality development. Basharat Ahmad, Peer bagh

No transport facility for govt schools

While the students of private schools travel in yellow buses, the students of the government schools have no such facility. The government has failed to make education easy for the children of government schools, which have more funds available than the private schools. Better facilities encourage children to perform better. The civil society and people must raise their voice for enhanced facilities for the children studying in the city’s government schools. Lack of toilets for women

There are many public institutions in Srinagar which have no separate clean toilets for women. Be it the government or private sector, offices lack separate toilets for women. Even if some offices have toilets for women, they are mostly dirty and pose a health risk. The administration must pass an order and visit offices to ensure that all of them have separate toilets for women. The government makes tall claims about women empowerment but cannot provide them a basic facility. We hope the administration raises the issue at the earliest. Zahira Tasleem, Srinagar
