Govt staff seek revocation of SRO-202

Employees recruited in government jobs under the controversial SRO-202, the recruitment rule that entails a new employee to spend five years in probation, have alleged that they are being ‘victimised’ by the administration.

They alleged that even after J&K becoming a UT, those recruited under the rules have been denied service benefits.

Under the banner of All J&K SRO-202 Employees, hundreds of youth are holding regular protests across the UT, demanding rollback of the ordinance, which was introduced by the PDP-BJP government that ruled the erstwhile state for three years.

“The youth were recruited after multi-tier selection process by agencies like J&K Public Service Commission and J&K Services Selection Board, but they have been denied service benefits,” says a statement issued by the employees.

It stated as per Rule-7 of this new job policy, recruitment to different posts was assured to be completed on a fast-track basis within three months but it took more than three years to complete the process.

“We are given basic pay component of salary and are denied allowances like DA, HRA and CCA, etc. The budget allocated for these posts is diverted to other sectors. Most of our colleagues are posted in remote and far-flung areas,” the statement added.
