Srinagar, August 22

Justice Tashi Rabstan, acting Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, interacted with 69 trainee judicial officers, who were present physically and virtually, during a session held at the HC conference room on Thursday.

A statement said the interaction provided the trainees a unique opportunity to gain insights into the judiciary and discuss key issues pertaining to their future roles.

The acting Chief Justice emphasised upon the importance of judicial independence, impartiality and adherence to the rule of law. He also elaborated on the importance of the training for judicial officers, saying it offers “a comprehensive understanding of contemporary challenges and expectations in the judiciary”.

“Trainees asked him about managing conflicts of interest, balancing personal beliefs with professional responsibilities, and navigating ethical dilemmas in the courtroom. The acting Chief Justice’s responses provided practical advice and valuable perspectives on these complex issues,” the statement said.

It further read that the trainees expressed appreciation for the Chief Justice’s candid and insightful discourse. “The Chief Justice’s address provided the trainees with a clear vision of the required standards and ethical considerations. Many trainees noted that the interaction senhanced their understanding of the ethical and procedural standards expected of them as future judicial officers,” the statement said.

Justice Tashi impressed upon the trainees to visit home for old aged persons at Amphalla and Jammu and interact with the inmates in order to gain wisdom and learn from their experiences. He said it was inspiring to see the commitment and dedication of the future members of the judiciary.
