‘Herath’ celebrated across UT, Omar extends greetings to KPs
Members of the Hindu community across the J&K made beeline at the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri on Wednesday.
People in Jammu thronged the temples early in the morning while the local Hindus of Kashmir visited the Shankaracharya temple. Devotees also offered prayers at the Martand Sun temple in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Many tourists who had come to the Valley also celebrated the festival along with locals.
In a post on X, CM Omar Abdullah said, “Salaam Mubarak to all! A day that celebrates our shared heritage, unity and the timeless bond between communities. May this tradition of togetherness and harmony continue to shine for generations to come!”
In a statement, Lieutenant Governor said, “On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, I convey my hearty greetings and felicitations to all and wish them health, happiness and prosperity”.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also extended wishes to the Kashmiri Pandits. “Warm greetings to our Kashmiri Pandit brethren on the occasion of Herath. Pray for restoration of the bond of love and coexistence that is an inherent component of our shared heritage”.
