In a bid to assess the ongoing preservation and conservation efforts by the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums in Jammu and Kashmir, Director Kuldeep Krishan Sidha conducted an inspection of various heritage sites in the Safa Kadal and Habba Kadal areas of Srinagar district.
The Director reviewed the progress of conservation work at notable sites, including Thagbab Sahib Shrine in Safa Kadal, Ram Mandir in Safa Kadal and Khankahi Sokhta in Srinagar. During the inspection, Sidha issued on-the-spot directions to engineers from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department and the Deputy Director of Archives, Archaeology & Museums, Kashmir, emphasising the importance of transparent monitoring of the ongoing projects.
The local residents expressed their appreciation for the efforts being made to restore these historic sites and highlighted the importance of returning them to their original glory.
The Director, however, cautioned the field officers and executing agencies to remain diligent and disciplined in their approach, stressing that no compromises would be made regarding financial integrity and the core objectives of the Department.
