Jammu, July 4
Security forces today busted a militant hideout at Dodasan Bala village in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district, leading to the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The hideout was unearthed during a joint cordon and search operation by the police and 38 Rashtriya Rifles unit of the Army.
“We received a specific input with regard to the presence of arms and ammunition in the village. With the help of the Army, we launched a joint search operation and we achieved success in recovering a cache of arms and ammunition,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Rajouri, Chandan Kohli told The Tribune.
The SSP said they have recovered an under barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) with 11 rifle grenades,14 magazines of AK rifle with 920 rounds, Chinese hand grenade, two Chinese pistols with magazines, detonators with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), making materials, including batteries and wires, a pressure mine and Pika rounds.
The police officer said the operation had been called off and further investigation into the case initiated.
