Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan on Sunday lauded CRPF for its role in maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir, the North-East and for its "monumental success" in curbing Left Wing Extremism in Chhattisgarh.
Addressing the paramilitary force's personnel on the occasion of CRPF's 87th Raising Day, Mohan praised CRPF for establishing 149 forward-operating bases in the strongholds of Maoists due to which Naxalites have been forced to retreat.
He also termed CRPF as a trouble-shooter for its role in disaster management, counter-insurgency operations, law and order and poll duties.
CRPF DG GP Singh, while speaking on the occasion, informed the gathering that the force has made significant progress in the field of information technology in recent years.
"Almost 100 per cent transfer of officers/personnel up to the rank of Deputy Commandant, is being done through 'Santos app' to keep transparency paramount ," Singh said.
The Prime Minister also lauded the force on the occasion of its Raising Day.
