House damaged, sheep killed in Pak shelling

Heavy mortar shelling from across the LoC was reported during the past 24 hours in Balakot and Tarkundi in Poonch and Ghambhir, Manjakot, and Nowshera sectors in Rajouri.

Around 9 pm on Sunday, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked shelling in Balakot (Poonch) and Manjakot (Rajouri) sectors.

“Five sheep of Mohd Sadiq were killed and a kutcha house of Mohd Rashid was damaged in Rajdhani village,” Manzoor Kohli, SHO, Manjakot said.

About 4 pm today, the Pakistan Army started heavy mortar shelling in Kalal-Deeing area in Nowshera sector.

Around 4.30 pm, they fired mortars in the Sunderbani sector. “In Sunderbani and Nowshera sectors, the Indian Army is retaliating befittingly,” said Lt Col Devender Ananad, PRO Defence.

On Thursday last week, a Class X student, Mohd Gufraz, was killed when a mortar shell from across the LoC landed in Mankot village in Poonch.
