The J&K Police today arrested a “hybrid” terrorist and recovered a hand grenade from his possession in Ganderbal district of the UT.

Police officials said Arshad Ahmad Mir, a resident of Sehpora in Ganderbal, was moving in a suspicious manner near a military vehicle in Khann area. “Hybrid” terrorist is a police coinage for those not listed as terrorists in police records but suspected to be associated and involved with terrorists.

The police claimed Arshad was an associate of The Resistance Front and his name had surfaced in several cases. He was alleged to be involved in the recruitment of his brother Lateef Ahmad Mir, who was arrested earlier under the UAPA, into terror ranks. — TNS
