Amid strict adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines and social-distancing norms, patriotic fervour and exuberance marked the celebrations of the country’s 74th Independence Day at the divisional, district and block-level functions across the Jammu region on Saturday.

The mega celebrations, however, were scaled down this time, keeping in view the prescribed safety protocols to contain the spread of Covid.

Seeking the cooperation of the people in taking J&K to the new heights of development, Sharma recounted numerous developmental projects and works undertaken in the UT by the government. He said the UT administration was trying its best to take J&K on the glorious path of development and prosperity.

At the district level, the Independence Day was also celebrated with fervour, zeal and national spirit across the districts of Jammu division by following all Covid protection protocols.

Similar functions were also held at the block, tehsil and panchayat level in different parts of the UT. — TNS
