Srinagar, December 20
After inclement weather conditions post the suspension of two Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFP) home ties, the I-League action is all set to return to the Valley from Thursday.
“Our first I-League match at home was scheduled on December 12, but the same got suspended due to inclement weather. Now, our first home tie will be against the Chennai City Football Club on December 26 that will be followed by more matches in January, including the one against Mohan Bagan,” said a member of the RKFC team management.
The return of the I-League home game of the RKFC will end the long wait of fans who were left disappointed by the delay in the start of this season’s football action in the Valley.
The RKFC had made its debut in the I-League, considered to be the country’s largest football league, last year and shot to the third spot on the points table.
The home matches of the Real Kashmir played at the TRC turf ground has drawn crowd in large numbers. The huge rush of fans at the TRC has also brought back memories of the pre-militancy era when football used to be very popular in Kashmir Valley.
