According to officials, the IED was detected on the Bandipora-Srinagar highway during a routine road-opening operation. The discovery led to an immediate response, with a bomb disposal squad being called to the site. As a precautionary measure, traffic on the highway was halted until the device was safely neutralised. After the successful disposal, movement on the road was restored.

This latest incident adds to a series of IED recoveries in Kashmir over the past few days. On Sunday, the Army thwarted a potential terror attack after discovering an explosive device in the forested areas of Kupwara near the Line of Control (LoC). The following day, another IED was recovered and diffused in Kulgam, South Kashmir. On Tuesday, security forces in Shopian found and neutralised yet another IED, further intensifying concerns over potential threats in the region.
