IGNOU city centre holds convocation

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today organised its 33rd convocation at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi Headquarters, and simultaneously at the regional centres across the country, including Regional Centre at Jammu.
In the convocation function held at Jammu, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu (JU), was the chief guest on the occasion and awarded degree certificates to the eligible learners. A total of 10,533 students from the Regional Centre, Jammu, were declared successful and eligible to receive diplomas and degree certificates at the function.
Of 10,533 students, 4,782 were master degree awardees, 5159 bachelor degree awardees, 402 diploma/postgraduate diploma programmes and 190 learners of six months duration certificate programmes. Around 113 students of postgraduate and professional programmes who had submitted their consent online were awarded degree/diploma certificates at the convocation function in Jammu in person.
One of the students Hardeep Kour Bali of postgraduate diploma in journalism and mass communication (PGJMC) programme was awarded the gold medal for her meritorious performance in the said programme across the country.
Prof Manoj K Dhar congratulated the students on whom the varsity hd conferred degree certificates. In his address, Prof Dhar urged the awardees that they had to translate their educational achievements to benefit the world and all had collective responsibility to work for the progress of the society and the country as a whole.
