Jammu, May 18
A building at Gujjar Nagar was demolished by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today on the direction of the JMC Commissioner.
A few more structures at Kasim Nagar, Chhani and Sainik Colony were also demolished as these were found to be illegally constructed and the court had also given direction for their demolition.
At Gujjar Nagar, the official concerned who supervised the demolition drive said the court’s order was served to the owner of the building long ago, but due to the non-compliance of the court directive, the order was released for their demolition.
“We also have the order for the demolition of other illegal constructions at various sites and we are carrying out the demolition one by one,” said the official on duty.
Meanwhile, the tenant of the building who had hired a shop within the premises alleged that the owner of the building did not inform him about the demolition order or else he would have removed his belongings from the shops, which had now been damaged.
