The Directorate of School Education, Jammu, is making all possible efforts to run the home classes during the lockdown, but the non-availability of textbooks is posing a problem to the students.
The directorate recently introduced home classes to ensure that the students did not suffer academic loss during the lockdown of schools in the Union Territory.
It is giving home assignments to the students through videoconferencing, telecast though cable network and Doordarshan. Specific instructions as well as indicative home assignments are also being uploaded regularly on the departmental website.
“Unless we have a thorough look at the textbooks, it is impossible to do any home assignment. The e-textbooks on which the assignments are provided are not being uploaded most of the times. We appeal to the government to allow stationery shops to open so that students can buy books for the new classes,” said Amit Singh, another student.
Director, School Education, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta said, “The textbooks are available in the winter zone. In the summer zone, those who have access to the online classes can download e-books from the website of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE). The e-textbooks of JKBOSE are available on its official website.”
