Following the terror attack in Pahalgam, which left 25 tourists and a local dead, the Education Department has asked employees engaged under the Prime Minister’s Special Package in at least two districts to work from home.

Kashmiri migrants and non-migrant Kashmiri Pandits have been employed under the Prime Minister special package. They are posted in several valley districts.

Twenty-five tourists and a local resident were killed in a terror attack at Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

“All employees engaged under PM Package and all Jammu-based reserved category employees" are hereby directed to work from home for the duration of this week with immediate effect up to Sunday (i.e. 27-04-2025). All concerned employees shall remain available to carry out their duties and responsibilities,” stated an order issued by the Chief Education Officer in Baramulla.

Meanwhile, the order issued by Chief Education officer, Anantnag, read, “The PM Package employees of this district are directed to work from home w.e.f. 24.04.2025, till further orders.”

One of the officials privy to developments, however, said that these orders had been issued at the district level by the Education Department and it was not a Valley-wide instruction.
