India on Thursday firmly rejected the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) statement on Jammu and Kashmir, calling it interference in the country’s internal affairs.

“We reject those statements. They don’t have any locus standi to speak on matters which are internal to India,” said Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

The OIC General Secretariat had earlier reiterated its “strong support” for what it called the “right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, describing October 27 as the anniversary of India’s “illegal occupation.”

New Delhi has consistently maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that the OIC has no standing to comment on the issue.
