ITBP mountain terrain bike expedition to Karakoram Pass flagged off from Leh

To mark the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and popularize the Har Ghar Tiranga campaigns for commemorating the 75th Independence Day, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has launched a North West Frontier Mountain Terrain Bike Expedition from Leh to Karakoram Pass in Ladakh.

The expedition, consisting of 30 members, was flagged off from Leh by Sanjay Arora, Director General, ITBP, today. Manoj Singh Rawat, Additional Director General, Western Command and Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo, Inspector General, North West Frontier, were also present on the occasion.

The team will reach the Karakoram Pass, at an altitude of 18,176 feet, after covering a distance of approximately 400 kms in 10 days and is expected to return to Leh on August 7, according to an ITBP spokesperson.

Raised in 1962, the ITBP guards the 3488 kms long India-China border in difficult and mostly sub-zero high altitude terrain.
