With 1,590 new cases of coronavirus, 832 from Jammu division and 758 from Kashmir Valley, during the last 24 hours, caseload in the UT has reached 58,244.

Eighteen deaths – 11 from Jammu province and seven from Kashmir Valley, were also reported during the same period thus taking the death toll to 932.

Moreover, 747 more patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 275 from Jammu division and 472 from Kashmir Valley.

According to an official bulletin issued on Wednesday evening out of 58,244 positive cases, 19,503 were active positive, 37,809 have recovered and 932 have died --185 in Jammu division and 747 in Kashmir province.

The bulletin further said out of 12,97,329 test results available, 12,39,085 samples have tested negative.

Till date 5,30,708 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation out of which 4,15 247 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Meanwhile, the Jammu wing of the J&K High Court was closed for two days after some employees were tested positive on Wednesday.

“The Registry has informed that yesterday some officials in the Jammu Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir have tested COVID-19 positive. As per the SOPs issued by the Government access to the High Court Premises in Jammu Wing of the High Court has to remain closed for two days for sanitisation purpose,” reads an order issued by Chief Justice Gita Mittal.

“No person except the sanitisation workers will be permitted entry into the High Court premises on September 16 and 17,” the order said.

According to the order, the urgent cases listed on September 16 and 17 in Jammu Wing of the High Court shall be taken up for consideration on September 18.

“Dates in other matters will be given by the concerned Bench Secretary and will be posted on the website of the High Court of J&K on 18th September, 2020,” the order said.

The District Court Complex of Rajouri was also sealed after some of the employees of the court were tested positive. “District Court Complex Rajouri is being sealed for fumigation and sanitisation as some employees of the Court tested Positive today. All those visited District Court Complex today or a few days back are requested to isolate themselves & get them tested for COVID at nearby facility,” Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Sher Singh, tweeted.
