It is not the brush that is powerful but the hand which holds it. KK Gandhi, a renowned artist hailing from Jammu, has proven this. He gave a new dimension to his work when he represented the Covid scenario of rural India on a wall of the Police Hospital, Jammu.
The 12X17 feet painting represents the situation in rural areas of the country, where masks and sanitisers are still exceptions but people are protecting themselves by staying indoors.
The artist has painted an image of a girl sitting on the window of her house, contemplating the present situation, when all are quarantined and are advised to stay home.
While speaking to The Tribune, Gandhi said, “I was looking for a space to portray my thoughts in art. So I approached the Jammu SSP. He suggested that I paint on the Police Lines wall but I found it unsuitable. He then advised this hospital wall. So, without wasting any time, I started working on the outline which I had in my mind”.
The artist spent around 12 hours to complete the painting. “I’m grateful to the police for logistic support and the painting would likely be inaugurated by the DGP within few days,” Gandhi added.
