Jammu IGP reviews cybercrime ops, calls for upgrades

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, conducted a thorough inspection of the Cyber Police Station to evaluate its operational preparedness and infrastructure.

He was accompanied by Director, Police Telecommunication, Jammu, Jatinder Singh Johar; Superintendent of Police (SP) and in-charge of the Cyber Police Station, Kameshwar Puri; and other senior officials.

During the visit, the IGP reviewed pending cases, the training status of Investigating Officers (IOs), existing infrastructure and the need for advanced computer forensic software and hardware. He assessed the station’s ability to tackle cybercrimes such as online fraud, hacking and cyber-terrorism. SP Kameshwar Puri briefed him on current operations and the challenges faced by the unit.

The IGP underlined the importance of continuous skill upgradation, integration of cutting-edge forensic tools and the implementation of real-time monitoring systems. He also stressed the need for public awareness campaigns on cyber safety and directed improvements in infrastructure, including the installation of modern workstations and secure data storage systems.

Johar assured full technical support from the Police Telecommunication Wing, while SP Puri reiterated the station’s commitment to leveraging technology in the service of the public. The IGP’s directives are aimed at strengthening cybercrime response and prevention capabilities across the Jammu zone.
