To assess the capabilities and preparedness of the J&K Police, Jammu Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhim Sen Tuti visited the Commando Training Centre (CTC) in Sunjuwan. During the visit, the IGP thoroughly reviewed the existing infrastructure and facilities at the centre to evaluate their effectiveness in training specialised forces.
An official stated, “The visit was aimed at ensuring that the training infrastructure meets the highest standards and provides the necessary facilities to the personnel undergoing training for challenging security operations. The IGP was briefed by senior officials on past training programmes and the operational readiness of the centre.”
Emphasising the importance of modernisation, the IGP highlighted the need for state-of-the-art training techniques and facilities for the personnel. He directed that immediate steps be taken to further upgrade the infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving demands of modern counter-terrorism and security operations. Specific instructions were given for upgrading training grounds, enhancing accommodation facilities, and improving equipment.
The IGP also underscored the necessity for regular maintenance of the existing infrastructure to ensure optimal training conditions for personnel. He called for a comprehensive review of all training modules and proposed the inclusion of more specialised courses aimed at enhancing the tactical, physical, and psychological readiness of the commandos.
“The IGP further assured that all necessary resources would be allocated to make CTC Sunjuwan a centre of excellence in terms of training and infrastructure, thereby strengthening the security forces in the region,” the official added.
