Jammu IGP reviews security in terror infested border areas

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu zone, Bhim Sen Tuti reviewed the security of multiple terror hotspots in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch during a three-day visit.

Tuti concluded the visit focusing on operational preparedness, inter-agency coordination, crime review and enhanced police-public engagement on Saturday evening.

The visit began on April 17 with the IGP visiting the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Baffliaz in Surankote, where he addressed the CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel. He later presided over Thana Diwas at District Police Lines (DPL), Poonch, where he listened to the grievances of the public. The event witnessed wide participation from local residents and civil society members. Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, was also present on the occasion.

Subsequently, a detailed crime review meeting was convened at DPL Poonch, which was attended by all senior officials of the district. The IGP reviewed the law-and-order scenario and investigation progress in key cases. His emphasis was on professional policing standards, proactive enforcement and coordination between field units.

The IGP also visited terror hotspots like Jarra Wali Gali, where he interacted with deployed jawans and officers. He appreciated their continued commitment to safeguarding the sensitive border belt and urged them to remain vigilant and mission-focused.

On the second day of the visit, the IGP reached Rajouri and inaugurated a fully-equipped gym facility at DPL Rajouri. Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma and other senior police officers were present on the occasion. He then chaired a crime review meeting, where he stressed on systematic investigation, effective crime control strategies and public trust through timely justice delivery.

During his Rajouri visit, Tuti also called on the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Romeo Force, Maj Gen Vijay Mahadevan, at Palma, and visited the SOG camp at Kalakote. Later, he met with the GOC, 25 Division, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, further reinforcing the police-Army coordination in operationally sensitive areas.
