The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS) at the University of Jammu organised an educational tour to the Akhnoor Heritage Museum on Monday, aimed at enriching students’ understanding of the region’s cultural history and India’s defence capabilities.
The tour began with a guided visit to the Akhnoor Heritage Museum, which preserves the region’s glorious past through an impressive collection of artefacts, manuscripts, sculptures, and relics from various historical periods. The students learned about the strategic importance of Akhnoor, located on the banks of the Chenab, and its archaeological significance.
In addition to the museum tour, the students had the unique opportunity to witness a special weapon display organised by the Army. The display featured a variety of modern weaponry and equipment used by the armed forces to safeguard India’s borders. Army personnel offered detailed explanations of the weapons’ capabilities and their operational significance, giving the students an understanding of the discipline, strategy and dedication of India’s military.
