Jammu’s Ekta to lead NCC’s R-Day contingent
Ekta Kumari, a leading cadet from 1 J&K Naval Unit NCC, Srinagar, and a BSc student at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, has achieved a significant milestone by being honoured as the Parade Commander for the All-India NCC Girls Contingent at the Kartavya Path parade on Republic Day.
Ekta, who aspires to join the defence forces, draws inspiration from her father, a retired soldier from 12 JAK LI. Her educational journey began at Army Public School, Akhnoor, and continued through her college years, where she joined the NCC with the goal of fulfilling her dream, an Army spokesperson shared.
Expressing her gratitude and joy, Ekta Kumari said, “Becoming Parade Commander of the All India Girls Contingent at Kartavya Path is the biggest and proudest moment of my life. This victory is not just mine but belongs to my family, unit, and the entire J&K and Ladakh.”
She also shared an inspiring message for the youth, saying, “Dream big, so that you don’t sleep until they are fulfilled.” Ekta expressed her heartfelt thanks to Lt Col Abhijeet, Drill Ustaad Jaswinder, and other key personnel who helped shape her training at the Nagrota NCC Camp.
She acknowledged the support of her Unit CO Lieutenant Commander Tej Ram, Group Commander Brig Deepak Sajjanhar SM, Additional Director General Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli VSM, Contingent Commander Col Amit Bhardwaj, and ANO Dr Nitika.
