Harnam Singh Jamwal, a Rehbar-e-Talem (ReT) teacher from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is among 63 teachers from across the country who have been felicitated with Best Teacher/Innovator National Award by Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, today.

Twentyfour other teachers from J&K were also awarded by the Union HRD minister regarding their new innovative ideas with zero investment at the state level. However, their ideas of 24 awarded teachers will be published at the UT level only. Harnam Singh Jamwal’s innovative idea will be published in Innovative Pathshala at the national level with new teaching ideas across the country. Overall, innovative ideas of 63 teachers from different states and union territories will be published at the national level.

“I am feeling extremely happy for the award the credit for this goes to my family as well as the Directorate of School Education. This award is not for me but it is for the whole teaching community of the J&K UT”, an elated Harnam Singh Jamwal said. He is at present posted at Government Middle School (GMS) Padder (Narla) in the remote Khawas zone of Rajouri district.
