BJP’s J&K and Ladkah in charge Tarun Chugh on Monday said that “despite negative propaganda by Gupkar Gang, people are supporting BJP in Kashmir”.
Chugh, who is on a three-day visit to Kashmir valley, said “propaganda of Gupkar Gang have no takers in the Valley and people are openly supporting BJP in the ongoing District Development Elections (DDC) and Panchayat by-polls”.
“Our party has a clear agenda of development and prosperity. We are not looters and have not deceived people like regional parties,” a BJP statement said quoting the BJP General Secretary who appealed to people to “vote for BJP and negate these opportunist political fringe groups to teach them a lifetime lesson”.
“I have visited dozens of far-flung areas in Kashmir who are in need of development and BJP will empower them all. There is enthusiasm among people during the elections.
“They are standing in long queues to cast their votes and it is first time in the history of Kashmir that people are coming out without any fear and separatist pressures. It is biggest achievement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his leadership skills. We left no stone unturned to continue his vision and mission in the valley,” he said.
Chugh also met corporators at Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Mahila Morcha workers and urged them to work for the people of Srinagar and smart city projects, the statement added.
“People will see a visible change in coming years and party will reach to every corner of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Addressing a meeting in Shopian, Chugh said the way people were participating in the elections underlines the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making J&K free from the terror of militants and encouraging people to exercise their franchise.
“Places like Shopian, Kulgam, Bandipora, Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Anantnag, Baramulla which were considered the hotbeds of terrorists and where people were scared to come out in the open were celebrating the democratic rights today,” he said.
“It is a victory of the Prime Minister that turn-out during the polls has been upto 50 to 70 per cent in many areas,” he said, adding that the BJP is fighting against communal forces and the “tukde-tukde” gang misguiding people of the state and instigating “anti-national feelings”.
“All such forces would be decisively defeated in the elections,” he said.
